Engaging Men in Gender Justice Globally |
Equimundo and UN Women unveiled the International Men and Gender Equality Survey in the Middle East and North Africa (IMAGES MENA) – the first multi-country research study of its kind in the region – in May, revealing the reality of men’s lives behind the headlines in Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, and Palestine.
In Serbia, the 2017 State of the World’s Fathers: Time for Action report was launched at the MenCare Global Meeting 2017 in June, laying out what has stalled progress toward global gender equality and presenting a bold agenda forward for men and boys doing fully 50 percent of the world’s unpaid care work.
In Brazil, the Youth Living Peace project has been engaging an increasing number of youth in Rio de Janeiro schools as agents of change in preventing gender- and race-based violence, in the face of a wave of conservative setbacks to national education policy.
And, in Democratic Republic of the Congo, where Youth Living Peace is also implemented, the Young Men’s Clubs Against Violence (YMCAV) project is working to reduce street violence by preventing 10- to 19-year-old boys from joining – and by helping them leave – local street gangs in Kinshasa.
In our featured interview, you’ll get to know the ECPAT Brazil team and learn more about the network’s successes and challenges in working to combat sexual abuse and exploitation of children and adolescents.
