Join Promundo Online During the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign
November 21, 2018
Starting on November 25, organizations around the world join a movement to spread awareness and take action during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Campaign. The campaign runs from November 25 to December 10 and aims to educate and raise awareness, strengthen partnerships and programming, and advocate for government policies to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls.
The theme of the 2018 campaign is “End Gender-Based Violence in the World of Work.” This year’s theme builds on the #MeToo movement and the momentum and achievements during the 2017 campaign, when hundreds of organizations across the world campaigned around the theme of “Together We Can End GBV in Education.” In 2018, the campaign focuses on moving from awareness to action – pushing for real change and accountability.
This year, Promundo is leading and co-hosting online efforts to address ways that individuals, communities, and institutions can help to change attitudes and end violence against women at home and in workplaces.

2) MenCare Social Media Campaign: Raising Children Gender-Equitably to Prevent GBV
Throughout the 16 Days, as co-coordinator of MenCare: A Global Fatherhood Campaign, Promundo is sharing 16 thoughtful quotes and articles that reflect on the importance of parents modeling and discussing healthy, respectful understandings of masculinity and consent with sons – and all children – in order to prevent gender-based violence. Join the conversation through MenCare’s Facebook and Twitter.
3) Twitter Chat: Ending Gender-Based Violence in the World of Work
Promundo led an hour-long segment of the all-day Twitter chat, “Ending Gender-Based Violence in the World of Work,” facilitated by the Asia Foundation. Running from 8am to 4pm EST on November 29, health and development organizations guided conversations and shared diverse strategies for ending GBV. Promundo co-hosted the hour from 1:00pm-2:00pm EST with the theme “Engaging Men and Boys to Prevent Gender-Based Violence.” Follow Promundo on Twitter and check out our conversation from the #GBVChat here.
