Wayne Shields serves on the advisory boards of the International Consortium for Emergency Contraception and the American Society for Emergency Contraception and is a board member of Promundo. He is also immediate past chair of the Population, Reproductive, and Sexual Health section of the American Public Health Association and serves on the steering committee for the Initiative for Multipurpose Prevention Technologies, a global health initiative of the Public Health Institute. Wayne has guided the development and implementation of health education initiatives, provider education programs, and policy activities at Association of Reproductive Health Professionals since 1991 and has served as president and chief executive officer since 1998. He is on the editorial boards of Contraceptive Technology Update and Clinical Proceedings in Reproductive Health and is a contributing editor to Contraception, an international reproductive health journal and the European Journal of Contraception and Reproductive Health. He has undergraduate degrees in women’s studies and English literature, and graduate studies in organizational management from The George Washington University.
